Safe handling of wheel weights

Bejstrup Maskinstation uses wheel weights weighing up to 250 kg on most of their more than 20 Tractor and Liquid Manure Spreader sets and were looking for a better way of handling the heavy and sometimes very slippery wheel weights.

Like our unique Ring Handling Tools, the new Wheel Weight Tools are mounted on the end of the gripper pipes and enable the service technician to grip, lift, rotate, place, and hold the heavy wheel weight single-handedly in a safe and secure manner, all within minutes…

24hr breakdown service

While working on the development of wheel weight tools for the Easy Gripper, Bejstrup had the opportunity to use the Easy Gripper out in the field as part of their 24hr breakdown service offering.

Tyre fitter at Bejstrup, Henrik Godiksen, have used the Easy Gripper at different occasions, where the Easy Gripper made a huge difference. In one of the cases, they were called out to assist a farmer with a broken wheel axle on his Vacuum Liquid Manure Spreader. The situation was complicated due to that fact that the tyre service would block the entire road in both directions and that the tyre on the broken axle, where lying underneath the Spreader – but within an hour Henrik Godiksen could return to office after a successfully completed task.

In another case, they were called out to assist a farmer, who discovered that one of his water-filled rear wheels had started leaking. With the Easy Gripper they could quickly demount the entire wheel on site, despite the heavy weight of the water-filled wheel and replace it with a new one.

Designed to improve working environment

The Easy Gripper tyre manipulator is not only designed to optimize the workflow – primarily it was designed to improve the working environment both when it comes to decrease the daily strains on the workers handling large tyres, as well as to minimizing the risks of serious accidents.

A precise rotation and a build-in camera system makes mount/demount of wheels an easy one-man job in workshops, at OEM assembly lines (mounted on forklifts or small electrical stackers) or for mobile tyre service (mounted on truck cranes or telehandlers etc.).

Mounting, demounting, moving, tilting, and stacking of OTR, EM and AGRO tyres and wheels up to 8 ton – depending on the configuration, have been made a whole lot easier and safer with the Easy Gripper product range from Just Easy Tools.
